The banyan tree in the heart of the forest had nests of many birds. There also lived a family of pigeons. The young ones were naughty and always landing themselves into trouble. The grandfather pigeon used to warn them, ” Look before you leap.” They never heeded his warning instead sniggered behind his back.
One day a hunter lay a net below the banyan tree. He threw grains of rice to entice the pigeons. As expected the young pigeons stepped into the trap and were entangled in the mesh.
They chirped and begged to be rescued. They said sorry to their grandfather for not heeding his advice. The youngest one said, ” I wish we had looked around carefully before leaping on the rice. Grandpa, you can save us.”
Grandpa pigeon said, “Now listen carefully, united we stand and divided we fall. So, all of you will flap your wings together and fly away across the valley to my friend the mouse who will free you from this net.”
The pigeons did as advised and were freed from the snare the hunter had laid down.
The moral of the story is to look before you leap because there could be traps laid down for you.
